The Mini Role Playing Guide For those new to role playing.
For those of you newbies who haven't been on a role playing site before {or have rarely participated in one}, this is a basic Role Playing Guide that'll help you get started. First off, we need to set the role playing guidelines. Here is the list of things you need if you want your writing to be articulate & accurate:
1. Be descriptive in your writing:
✕: Umi sat beneath a tree and watched the Sun set. ✓: Umi sat beneath an oak tree and watched the Sun set behind the horizon.
2. Typing: No "text-talk" or "chat-talk". It's appropriate to use this type of typing in the chat-box, but in role-play, it's not.
✕: "i cant wait 2 c u!" she exclaimed. ✓: "I can't wait to see you!" She exclaimed.
3. Refrain from using symbols: Don't use ANY symbols in your role-playing. Examples of symbols: @#$^&*+=
✕: "No $, no go. It's how I run things & that's final. ^_^" She grinned. ✓: "No money, no go! It's how I run things and that's final." She grinned.
4. Use past-tense and third-person format:
✕: I am waiting for a friend near the classroom. ✓: Umi was waiting for a friend near the classroom.
5. No one-liners:
✕: Umi looked up. She saw a bird. It fluttered by. ✓: Umi looked up and saw a bird flutter by.
6. No run-on sentences: Add appropriate conjunctions or punctuation in order to make the sentence proper.
✕: "We've got to keep going we'll never reach town before dark." ✓: "We've got to keep going, we'll never reach town before dark."
